Japan applies animal-quarantine controls to designated aquatic animals. Applicability depends on the taxon and intended use, so the importer must confirm eligibility before shipment.
BEFORE ORDERING
Three checks before a quotation.
- 01Check whether the exact species is subject to aquatic-animal quarantine.
- 02Confirm advance notification and certificate requirements with AQS.
- 03Arrange the designated inspection location and arrival schedule.
DOCUMENT PACK
Prepare these records.
- Importer identity, registration and broker details required by the destination
- Scientific-name species list, quantities, source and intended use
- Import permit or written admissibility confirmation where required
- Official aquatic-animal health certificate with the destination declarations
- Commercial invoice, packing list, air waybill and customs classification
- CITES or national wildlife permits when the exact taxon is regulated
ARRIVAL & CLEARANCE
Entry is a separate decision.
Present original certificates and make the animals available for quarantine inspection when required. Other customs, CITES and invasive-species rules remain separate.
