The importer must check Department of Fisheries licensing and MAQIS permit, inspection and quarantine requirements. Conditions vary by species, purpose, origin and entry point.
BEFORE ORDERING
Three checks before a quotation.
- 01Confirm importer and premises licensing with the Department of Fisheries.
- 02Apply for the relevant MAQIS import permit before dispatch.
- 03Agree health-certificate conditions and the authorised point of entry.
DOCUMENT PACK
Prepare these records.
- Importer identity, registration and broker details required by the destination
- Scientific-name species list, quantities, source and intended use
- Import permit or written admissibility confirmation where required
- Official aquatic-animal health certificate with the destination declarations
- Commercial invoice, packing list, air waybill and customs classification
- CITES or national wildlife permits when the exact taxon is regulated
ARRIVAL & CLEARANCE
Entry is a separate decision.
Submit the consignment for MAQIS inspection and comply with any quarantine or sampling direction. State-level requirements should also be confirmed.
